Year 2 Victorian Day
The Year 2 pupils went back in time to the 12th of January 1883:
"When we arrived at school our normal teachers were not to be seen, instead we had Miss Cane-a-lot and Miss Crinkle aided by Mrs Doolittle and Mr Max-Pain. They were strict and shouted at us to stand in line, tallest boy first down to the smallest girl. We were forbidden to talk and they even inspected our nails. After our morning exercises it was down to the three r’s of reading, writing and arithmetic. Some of us had to wear the Dunce Hat if we talked or made a mistake, a few of us nearly got the ruler on our hand, thankfully it was just pretend! After break, the girls had domestic science and made some delicious Victorian sponges while the boys had woodwork. We finished our day with a Victorian tea party and parlour games.
It was agreed by all, while we had a fun day learning about the schools of the past, we much preferred school today in 2024!"
