EYFS & KS1 Storytelling and Drama Day
On Wednesday, everyone in Nursery, Reception, Year One and Year Two enjoyed our first ever ‘Storytelling and Drama Day’. It was wonderful to see the children (and staff!) dressed up and which costume they had chosen. There were some traditional story characters but plenty of other ideas too.
We began the day with a special assembly in the hall. We all joined in with the story of ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear, what do you see?’ by Eric Carle before acting out ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ by Michael Rosen, bringing the language to life. This was followed by some hearty singing. It would be lovely to think that the children could sing the songs to you at home!
Going to the drama studio at the Senior School was an adventure in itself but we were enthralled by the talents of Little Red Riding Hood (Ms Burns) and her helpers (Emilia, Jo and Zee) as they re-enacted the tale of ‘The Elves and The Shoemaker’ for Nursery, Reception and Year 1. We had great fun shouting out when we saw the elves who kept hiding. Year 2 acted as reporters investigating an incident with Humpty Dumpty which definitely gave them an interesting challenge.
