On Saturday 16th May 2026, after a nine year hiatus, the school’s senior cricket team returned to competitive matches. The team travelled to Nantes to play Nantes Cricket Club in a T20 format match.

Given the beautiful conditions, BSP opted to bat first. With H (Year 13) coming back from study leave to open the batting with A (Year 12). H scored an impressive 50 runs (not out) and was retired to allow younger players a chance to showcase their skills.

Excellent batting performances from A, C (Year 12) and Captain N (Year 10) allowed the team to surge ahead early on in the innings to comfortably set a target of 158-9.

It was then the turn of BSP to field. During the opposition’s innings to bat it was clear that our team’s overall bowling performance would carry BSP through to a comfortable victory. However, special mention should go to C, who took three wickets in her first two overs, setting the opposition on a back foot.

Final score – the BSP won by 38 runs: Nantes 120-5 to BSP 158-9.

The team will now wait until the exam period has concluded for most year groups before their next match on Saturday 13th June.

We wish the team the best of luck for the rest of the season and are extremely proud of such a fantastic comeback of cricket at school.
