We were delighted to welcome a French author and her illustrator to our school for a special day of creativity and discovery in the French department.

Children from Years 1 to 4 had the opportunity to take part in this enriching experience which was conducted entirely in French.

Years 1 and 2 enjoyed listening to the story L’Île aux crabes. They proudly demonstrated their expanding French vocabulary before participating in a creative workshop where they learnt how to draw sea creatures.

Years 3 and 4 children explored the exciting process of creating a book, from the author’s initial ideas to the final printed version. They listened to Abel et Mandarine (Year 3) and Le Jour du Goéland (Year 4) before taking part in drawing workshops to illustrate a seabird and a lobster.

It was a joyful and engaging day filled with creativity, discovery and plenty of French conversation. The children thoroughly enjoyed this unique opportunity and were inspired by meeting real creators.
