During Assembly this week we celebrated the achievements of our Year 11, 12 and 13 Physics students, many of whom have taken part in prestigious competitions run by the British Physics Olympiad over recent months. Over 30 students from these year groups have committed their time and energy to engaging with challenges that go well beyond the demands of their GCSE and A-level courses.

These competitions are designed to stretch students to their limits, presenting complex problems in unfamiliar and thought-provoking contexts. In doing so, they provide an excellent opportunity for students to live out our school values in a meaningful way.

Students are encouraged to approach problems with curiosity, exploring new ideas and concepts, whilst also developing their creativity in problem-solving as they are required to think outside of the box when tacking these challenging problems.

In addition, since entering these competitions is entirely voluntary, students have shown real determination in choosing to take on such demanding work. Their willingness to challenge themselves and take responsibility for their learning is highly commendable.
