From 12th to 17th April, thirty Years 8 and 9 students explored the fantastic geography and culture of Tenerife.

Students participated in a wonderful variety of activities, from going to the top of Mount Teide – a stratovolcano – to stargazing, whale-watching and visiting the lava tubes at Cueva del Viento. They also had a fun day at Siam Water Park, voted as one of the best water parks in the world. Students were able to learn about the special biodiversity of flora and fauna on the island, the volcanology and the changing types of agriculture too. We stayed in Hotel Jardin Caleta on the Costa Adeje, which had a lovely pool for students to relax in and a great buffet dinner. Many thanks to the staff for helping to run and support this trip. Please see some of the feedback from the students below.

“I thought it was a really good and entertaining learning experience, learning about all kinds of different volcanoes and ecosystems there can be on one island, but with a mix of fun activities as well.” – T

“My thoughts of this trip was that it was amazing! We learnt a lot about all the volcanoes and ecosystems on only one island. The accommodation was lovely as well, with a pool that I know everyone enjoyed. We learnt a lot while still getting a lot of memories to hold on to for a lifetime.” – E

“I thought that this was an amazing trip, and we learnt a lot about the ecosystems, volcanoes and the history of the Canary Islands. Our hotel was great and had everything we needed and I really enjoyed it. Although I think the lunch could have been better, but breakfast and dinner were amazing.” – H

“In my opinion this was a very good trip. I learned about volcanoes and about the adaptations that the different plants have on the island. I also had a great time at the water park. But personally, my favourite part was the breakfast and dinner. I love buffets.” – M
