The Year 4 children were very lucky to be given a ‘Rainforest Talk’ by Mr Baugh.

Mr Baugh is a former Deputy Headteacher at the Junior School. In his spare time, he has explored many of the world’s rainforests. He is an avid ornithologist and botanist and kindly came into school to share his experiences and photos with us.

“It was funny when he told us about the leech that attached itself to his belly button.”

“I liked how much Mr Baugh knew about rainforests because I love them too. I didn’t know that strangler figs existed.”

“I loved Mr Baugh’s stories – he explained everything really well. He did a great job of taking photos of birds and recording their sounds.”

“I asked Mr Baugh about the most fascinating places he has visited. He told us about the Daintree Rainforest, which is the oldest in the world.”

“It was fascinating to hear him speak about the leeches, especially when they destroyed his shirt!”

“I loved the part about camping in the rainforest. I didn’t know you could camp there. I would love to do that!”

“I couldn’t believe that some parts of the rainforest are flooded for much of the year. Learning about that was so interesting.”
