The sun shone on the Community Shop last week. Most of the stalls were outside, which created a welcoming atmosphere and allowed for lots of discussions and chats. It has been four years since we first opened to the public. Many of the same faces return time and again because they really appreciate our efforts.

A Ukrainian lady brought in some donations and came to shop, she wanted to say how much she appreciated all our work when we first opened – it was a real lifeline for her and so many others. We are now open to all the community, and we gave away (to those with vouchers) as many items as we sold. Therefore, the 1200€ we made for local charities only tells half the story…

Our next shop will be on 16th May, by which time the Year 13 students will be in the midst of their exams, so this was their last community shop. We would just like to say an enormous thank you to them for all their hard work and the hours of volunteering they have done over the years. So many have regularly spent hours and hours of their time sorting, moving and – worst of all – putting away items. They have been brilliant and their efforts have enabled the community shop to flourish.
