On Thursday afternoon this week we were thrilled to receive a visit from Sally Gordon-Mark, piano teacher at the BSP for well over a decade before moving to Italy in 2019. Sally addressed the musicians in the Small Ensemble activities group, telling them of her extensive and varied musical activities throughout her life. The students’ comments below reflect their enjoyment of Sally’s talk, their admiration of her achievements and the inspiration gained from her words and stories.

“It was good to see how much one can achieve and still learn throughout a lifetime, from a teenage band, working with Lucas Films and Warner Brothers… I loved meeting such a kind person and am excited to see how much I can also achieve myself in the future!” – L, Year 12

“Ms Gordon-Mark brought along with her a wealth of musical knowledge and stories from her distinguished career as a vocalist in the vocal trio The Murmaids that released the hit song “Popsicles and Icicles”. She also shared with us her current endeavour of learning medieval music with the Italian Ensemble Micrologus. It was a pleasure to hear from someone so accomplished.” – H, Year 12

“My experience today meeting with Sally Gordon-Mark was incredibly inspiring since she has had an exceptionally wide-ranging experience in music and continues to develop today… eventually moving to Paris to teach piano and voice. As a fellow pianist I think it is motivating to know that I too can begin developing my musical career early on and still have my career develop in many ways.” – G, Year 12

Our thanks and best wishes to Sally as she continues her own musical journey.
