The Year 2 Abstract Art Gallery was a resounding success!

After undertaking workshops with artist Felicity Kelham in November, the children were now able to showcase their art to their parents. The EYFS Refectory was transformed into a modern Art Gallery with all 125 of the ‘Senses’ paintings hanging from the ceiling.

Each of our five senses were represented alongside the inspiration for each set of paintings. For example, the ‘Taste’ paintings were inspired by blueberries and kiwis, while the ‘Hearing’ paintings were inspired by Justin Timberlake.

After the parents had finished viewing the hanging gallery we surprised them with the big reveal of our canvases in the Atrium. Finally, we invited the parents back to the classrooms to work with the children on creating their own piece of family abstract art inspired by Wassily Kandinsky.

It was a wonderful afternoon full of creativity, excitement and pride!
