Throughout the year, the PSHE curriculum covers a range of topics that often lead to interesting classroom discussions. Given the content of PSHE we think that it would be really helpful if these conversations could be continued at home.

This week, all year groups worked on Safer Internet Day during their PSHE lesson. They discussed the pros and cons of using the internet.

Year 13 students have had three PSHE lessons about AI, during which they discussed the ethical questions it raises and its impact on mental health.

The Year 13 Computing students introduced this special day to the entire Senior School during Tuesday’s assembly. They discussed how we can use AI safely and responsibly.

This week’s questions to chat about over dinner could be:

  • Year 7: How can you tell if an image, video or piece of information online has been created or altered by AI? Why does this matter?
  • Year 8: Rhys finds out that someone in his year group has used AI to create a video of him that makes it look like he’s taking his t-shirt off, and has shared it on their social media stories. What should Rhys do?
  • Year 9: Remi has an essay that she needs to write for her English homework. She is thinking about using AI to help her with the essay. What is the most responsible way she could use AI to help her?
  • Year 10: Where should the line be between AI supporting learning and AI replacing independent thinking?
  • Year 11: What online choice have you made recently that felt completely safe at the time but might have had a hidden risk you didn’t think about?
  • Year 12: Is the emergence of AI bringing in a second Industrial Revolution?
  • Year 13: How can users of AI help challenge bias?
