As part of the Violent Earth topic in Geography, Year 7 students have been learning all about volcanoes, including their formation, the different types and the positive and negative impacts they can have on society.

Individually, they made a volcano of their choice and put together some fantastic presentations to explain the structure of the volcano, where they are found in the world, the pros and cons of living near a volcano… and finished with an eruption.

A special mention must go to one of our students who not only made a fantastic composite volcano complete with real life ash cloud, but also delicious Italian treats that come from the island of Stromboli where the famous volcano is found.

Many thanks also to the staff who have helped to co-ordinate transfer of the volcanoes from the Guardian’s Office to the relevant classrooms.

The volcanoes are currently on display in the foyer of the Kett Building.
