Year 3 have been busy exploring invisible forces that make paper clips dance and cause iron filings to form patterns, as well as the way magnetic poles repel and attract each other. They investigated the Earth’s magnetic field by allowing a bar magnet to swing freely, observing that they all eventually settled to point towards the North Pole.
