Last week, children had a wonderful opportunity to develop their French skills through cooking and storytelling.

During their French lessons, pupils from Nursery, Reception, and Years 1 and 2 learnt how to make galettes, which they then enjoyed tasting. They were delicious and had been made and cooked to perfection.

The pupils were also treated to a puppet show in the French library, Roule Galette. Having studied the story in advance, the children were able to participate enthusiastically, singing ‘Je suis la galette’ and reciting the different parts of the story, including the galette and the animals it encounters.

Year 5 children are working hard on writing thoughtful replies to their pen pals’ letters.

Reception children made paper galettes using paint, developing their drawing skills by practising straight horizontal and vertical lines, and copying a real galette as closely as possible.
