Before Christmas, our Nursery and Reception children took a stroll along the riverside path to visit the Post Office. The children had various creations that they needed to post home for the holidays, so they were prepared with self-addressed envelopes and stamps. They were welcomed by a jolly old chap with a white beard, dressed head to toe in a brilliant red suit, who was very friendly and familiar looking.
He happily guided the children behind the scenes at the sorting office, an area that is usually off-limits. The children learned what happens to all the post and parcels that need to be delivered. They met the happy helpers who work hard to ensure that letters and presents are delivered on time to the right places in our school and the surrounding area. The children were treated to a tasty, refreshing snack and sang some festive songs for the workers and delivery drivers in return. Our jolly, elf-like guide helped the children post their letters and assured them that his fleet would visit each and every home of all the good girls and boys on Christmas Eve. With a ‘Ho ho ho’, he wished us a ‘Merry Christmas’ before waving goodbye.
