This term, the French Singing Club have listened to and practised many old and new French songs and the team decided to perform two timeless classics: ‘Il en faut peu pour être heureux’ and ‘Le pouvoir des fleurs’.

Well done to our promising singers!

Our ‘Ambassadeurs de France’ have also been busy once again! This time, they selected and wrote some well-known French sayings to motivate and inspire pupils throughout the school. Their beautifully presented sayings are now on display along the staircase leading to the French department.

Year 1 children have started to explore seasonal traditions in France. They have learnt how French families decorate a Christmas tree and how children open a window of their Advent calendar each day while waiting for the festive season to begin. After learning the names of all the decorations, the children painted their own trees using straws as brushes.

Meanwhile, the KS2 children started learning their French song for the winter concert, which is already sounding wonderful.

During their second exchange, the Year 5 children visited the Jules Verne school to explore the French educational system and spend more time with their pen pals. Together, they made ‘cocottes’ and immediately put them to good use by playing games and asking each other questions in both French and English. They also enjoyed playing a selection of board games, and it was great to see everyone trying to communicate in both languages.

During the visit, the French pen pals proudly showed the children their work, including anti-bullying, kindness and friendship posters, which are now displayed around the school.

Meanwhile, 5H children welcomed their pen pals to the BSP, where they took part in a lively K-pop activity together.

Another enriching and memorable exchange for both classes!

Bravo et bonnes vacances!
