On Thursday 20th and Friday 21st November, the U16 and U14 girls volleyball teams played matches over two evenings against visiting side ACS Cobham.

On Thursday, the first match against ACS started well with the BSP winning their first set convincingly by 10 points. However, victory was short-lived when ACS came back to win the second set by 12 points. This brought both teams to a nail-biting ‘first to 25 points’ tie-breaker set.

The BSP side held their nerve, narrowly winning the final decider set 25-23.

The following day it was the turn of the U14 girls to play ACS. In a reversal of the previous night, ACS took a commanding lead in their first set with the BSP coming back to win the second. Once again, this brought both sides down to a tie-breaker set to win the match. Despite the large number of very talented players in the ACS team, the BSP managed to win their second game in two days with the final score of 26-24.

This is an impressive result for the group, considering that many of them only started playing volleyball competitively this year. Special thanks must also go to Ms Serafini for refereeing the U16 match and to Seniors Manel Wardi-Hamidi, Meenahel Bompoint, Sasha Shandalova, Caitlin Magee and Alessia Venturelli for their help, coaching, supporting, scoring and refereeing the younger teams’ match.

This set of results bodes well for the future of volleyball at the school and we look forward to seeing their continued development next year.
