The Junior School children have been learning how to take care of the books in the library. They talked about shelving the books correctly and not “dog-earing” pages. To encourage this, since September, children throughout the school have been enjoying creating bookmarks for the JSC Librarian’s “Zero Stress Bookmark Competition” (the competition never ends and anyone who makes a bookmark is a winner).
It has been wildly successful so far. Staff and pupils have loved seeing the beautiful bookmarks that their classmates have made, and children have been excited to choose bookmarks made by their siblings or by children in other year groups.
After receiving hundreds of submissions – so many that they are decorating the checkout desk – the Junior School decided to share them. Last week, they sent some of our best bookmarks to their friends in the Senior School with the following note:
Dear Senior School,
We are learning at the Junior School how to treat books well. Bookmarks are very important to help us not dog-ear books! We have made lots of bookmarks and we would like to share them with you!
Love from,
Your friends at the Junior School
We hope they are enjoying them!
