To celebrate Storytelling Day, the French teachers treated the EYFS and KS1 children to a special performance of the story Les Trois Petits Cochons.
Using puppets, songs and plenty of humour, they brought the story to life in French! The children were wonderful audience members, joining in with the song ‘Promenons-nous dans les bois’ and even helping the big bad wolf along the way.
After the show, the Reception children were very busy designing their own forest scenes using colourful collages. Once they had finished, they added the Three Little Pigs’ houses: one made of straw, one made of wood, and one made of bricks.
The children really enjoyed bringing the story to life through art and French.
Year 5 have received their first letters from their French pen pals at Jules Verne! They were thrilled by the beautiful handwriting and artwork, and can’t wait to reply with stories about their recent holidays, using all the French vocabulary they have been learning recently.
Having learnt how to talk about past holidays, including ‘les vacances de la Toussaint’, Year 6 children have been busy designing and painting their own postcards to show what they got up to during the break.
Thanks to their growing confidence with the passé composé and their study of how to write a postcard in French, they will soon be able to write a short paragraph about their holiday, complete with an address and stamp.
