Year 9 spent time this week reflecting on the nature of friendships and learning to see relationships from different points of view.

Girls attended a ‘Girls on Board’ session to consider effective ways of resolving friendship turbulence, while boys looked into the importance of gratitude and positivity within friendships. The boys wrote anonymous compliments to another student in the class and collectively they had to guess who the compliment was about.

It was a joy to witness the boys wait with anticipation for their compliment and it was a true reminder that we are never too old – or too ‘cool’ – to appreciate a compliment. Staff were particularly impressed with the level of sensitivity that some comments had.

Some examples were “He is a true gentleman and always kind”, another was “He is a great chef”, and most importantly in a good friendship “He is a good listener”. We hope this level of positivity in the year group will be maintained for the future to come.
