From the 22nd to the 26th October, 29 Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 students went to beautiful Iceland accompanied by three members of staff.
They had a fantastic time exploring the geysers, lava flows, volcanoes, hot springs, thermal baths, national parks and lava centre, to mention but a few highlights. Their expert field tutor Graham Smith provided valuable insights into the physical, human and environmental Geography of Iceland. They were even lucky enough to see the northern lights.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff that supported this trip and to the students who were a credit to the BSP and showed such a keen interest in Iceland and all it has to offer. Please see the feedback from some of the students below.
“This school trip was by far one of the best, if not the best trip I’ve ever been on. The views were so breathtaking and incredible that you would almost forget the cold. From the glaciers to the volcanoes to the waterfalls to the northern lights we saw to the lagoon and even the sunsets we would see on bus rides, I enjoyed every single moment of it. The people there were all so welcoming, our guide was so passionate, and it is truly amazing how staff members have managed to fit so many different activities in such a short amount of time during our stay, so a huge thanks to them! We learnt so many things about Iceland. This is definitely a very memorable experience that I’m not going to forget!”
“The Iceland trip was an unforgettable and amazing experience. The landscape was extraordinary and beautiful, exactly what you would expect it to be like and I would definitely like to go again! Even though it was cold, the weather was amazing and I enjoyed the trip very much and we were extremely lucky to have been able to see and take photos of the northern lights. We learnt so much about Iceland during our stay and were able to see so many of the things that make Iceland iconic such as a glacier, its beautiful wild landscape, waterfalls, the secret lagoon among many other places. “The Iceland trip was honestly unforgettable. The views were unreal, and even with the cold it was fun spending time with people from my year and others from younger and older years, getting to know everyone better. I do not think I will ever forget how beautiful everything was, and I would definitely go back if I ever got the chance. This trip is something that will definitely stay in my head for a long time.”
“It was an amazing experience and if I had the chance I would go back again! The landscape was really beautiful everywhere you looked, you’d have volcanoes and glaciers and waterfalls and then we also saw the northern lights which we were so lucky to see and truthfully I have no storage now as my camera roll is filled with videos of everywhere we went. We learned about a lot of facts too and overall I really enjoyed it despite it being extremely cold.”
“This school trip has truly been extraordinary. There’s a magic in being able to fit so much action packed adventure into a period of just 5 days. Whether it was visiting spectacles like the Gullfoss and Seljalandsfoss Waterfalls, Sólheimajökull Glacier, gazing at the northern lights, travelling over the bridge between the continents or letting relaxation take control in the secret lagoon, every moment was remarkable. This trip wouldn’t have been what it was without the amazing sense of community created by our teachers, guide and pupils! It’s safe to say this trip will forever hold a special place in my heart.”
