Year 12 EPQ students have made a promising start to this academic year, engaging fully in this Extension opportunity available in the 6th Form.
This week, some EPQ group members were actively involved in the following debate:
“Is the use of behaviour tracking and targeted advertising techniques morally wrong?”
Our students worked extremely well in groups, preparing arguments and counter-arguments strategically and they also managed to integrate some key Philosophical/Ethical frameworks such as Virtue Ethics, Consequentialism, Hedonism and Legal Moralism into the debate which followed.
The quality of arguments was impressive, and it was great to see the students demonstrate strong debating skills at such an early stage of the EPQ course.
Perhaps even more importantly from an educational perspective, in this debate, reason prevailed over emotion.
Well done to our EPQ students for such a good start to the year.
