The Year 5 children and their teachers are extremely excited to be learning about the new humanities topic in Year 5, ‘The Vikings in France’.
Did you know that the Vikings were the first European explorers to go to Russia and America?
The children have been using maps and atlases to trace the Vikings’ journeys around different parts of the world.
The children then imagined that they were Vikings and planned a raid in France. In order for their raid to be successful, they had to study different French geographical locations, identify rivers and wealthy towns. They then presented their ‘Raid Plans’ to the class with enthusiasm and confidence.
They are now learning about the siege of Paris in 845, which they will present in the form of a comic strip.
