Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
The Reception children made their first visit to the French department!
They explored the classrooms and enjoyed a puppet show in the library. What was the best surprise? Discovering that it was Mme Caux behind the curtain!
Nursery and Reception children have officially started their French lessons! The French teachers visited their classrooms to play games and get to know the children. We can’t wait to learn lots of new songs, stories and games in French!
Year 1
Year 1 children went on une chasse aux feuilles to collect colourful leaves while learning the French poem ‘Petite feuille verte’. The windy weather made the line “petite feuille jaune vole dans l’air” extra fun as the leaves really did fly! These autumn treasures will be used in their French art project.
Year 2
Then it was Year 2’s turn in the French theater! They became the puppeteers themselves, using the stage to practise vocabulary and show off their French speaking skills. Bravo!
Year 5
Year 5 enjoyed a lovely walk along the banks of the River Seine in Croissy-sur-Seine, before stopping to have a snack in the gardens of the Château de Chanorier.
At the French library, the librarian read two engaging stories to them in French and gave them a tour of the cosy reading spaces. The children explored comic strips and manga, as well as a variety of other books, and were thrilled to learn that library members can borrow up to 12 books for free! Their new mission is to find their local library, join and discover even more French books close to home.
Co-curricular
Our co-curricular activities are in full swing! With French Ambassadors, Mandala Art Club, French Bookworms and French Singing, there are plenty of enjoyable opportunities for children to continue speaking French outside of the classroom.
Vive le français !
