BSP alumna Jess Kneebone (2013-2019) was part of two women’s teams of 23 players each. The games were 15-a-side with players rotating to allow for rest. The rugby players successfully beat the current world record for the longest rugby game by playing 26 hours and 33 mins of continuous rugby.
The record, subject to official verification by the Guinness World Records, saw the women’s and men’s teams play through the night to raise a whopping £110,000 for three charities – children’s rugby charity Wooden Spoon, rugby mental health charity LooseHeadz, and The Lions Trust. The men’s team also beat their world record.
When asked by ex-Welsh international and Lions player Jamie Roberts (pictured above with Jess) how it had been, Jess replied wryly “It was rough”. Jess is now back at work after enjoying a well-deserved rest over the weekend.
Well done to Jess and all those who participated in this magnificent effort.
