We asked our Year 2s about their recent trip to Forêt de Marly. Here’s what they had to say…
“We packed our lunches and clipboards, then got on the bus. I sat next to my friend. Once we arrived, we walked along the path but lots of people came walking by, so we moved over to the flowers, away from the path.”
“Mrs Desmeulles then gave us a number each; mine was number nine – how cool is that?”
“After that, we stopped to play. We played ‘Floor is Lava’. Next, we lifted a log to see the microhabitats underneath.”
“We walked for ten more minutes, then stopped for lunch. I sat next to Mrs Spalletti-Cernia.”
“My favourite part of the day was when we made a shelter.”

“First, we took the glamorous bus to Marly Forest. I sat next to ny friend and we both fell asleep.”
“When we arrived, we walked across the gravel and up the hill to the squelchy mud clearing, where we ate our snacks and looked under logs for minibeasts. I saw beetles, butterflies, worms and flies.”
“After that, we walked through the forest, looking at the plants. I saw oak, chestnut, birch and beech trees. Then we went to a clearing where we ate our lunch.”
“We made a shelter. After that, we walked through the sandy forest.”
“Finally, we walked along the road, climbed into the bus and returned to school. I had lots of fun!”
