Year 3 had a magical day out at Château de Breteuil, where they linked their studies of Charles Perrault’s fairy tales in English and French lessons.

They explored the beautiful gardens and outbuildings of the Château while discovering staged scenes from tales such as ‘Puss in Boots’ and ‘Little Red Riding Hood’.

They also had the special privilege of listening to a French storyteller bring ‘Cendrillon’, ‘La Belle au Bois Dormant’ and ‘Les Fées’ to life.

They loved wandering through the fountains and maze, visiting the traditional dovecote and, of course, playing on the huge playground.

Most of them agreed that ‘Barbe Bleue’ was the scariest scene but they were especially surprised by ‘La Belle au Bois Dormant’, which had a very different ending to the one they were familiar with.

And, of course, the sunny outdoor picnic made everything even better!
