London is beautiful when the sun is out, and the sun was definitely shining last week.

Regent’s University, located in the very centre of Regent’s Park, is a private university which focuses largely on Business and Fashion/Marketing Degrees: Business and Management BA; Business and Marketing; Business and Luxury Brand Management; Business and Entrepreneurship; Business and Data Science; Business and Sustainability; Business and Psychology; Business and Global Sports Management; International Business; Business and Finance; Business, Technology and Entrepreneurship; Luxury Hospitality Management.

With lessons taught largely by entrepreneurs and business leaders, as well as regular talks given to the students by visiting CEOs, the whole atmosphere is one of businesslike professionalism and career preparation: 85% of students are in high skilled employment within 15 months and one in five in director or managerial positions within the same time frame. Indeed, the university mantra is “Learning by doing” as the vice Chancellor himself reinforced during my visit.

I was able to catch up with Isabella, a former BSP student, who is currently studying Interior Design at Regent’s:

I started attending Regent’s University in September studying Interior Design and since coming here I’ve met so many interesting people and built so many connections both professionally and with friends.

I’ve done many interesting projects – one of them being a design project for the British Heart Foundation where we are designing a thrift store on Marylebone High Street, and where all donations will go to the British Heart Foundation. This project has allowed me to focus on many creative aspects and opened up new opportunities for me.

The campus at Regent’s is absolutely stunning and the location is perfect: I’m not far from all the design capitals such as Soho, Covent Garden, Mayfair and Marylebone. Living on campus has allowed me to make so many friends both long-term and short-term, letting me build friendships all over the world.

I’ve been able to attend cool events such as fashions shows at Paris Fashion Week and events at London Design Week thanks to the great connections and people I’ve met here at Regent’s.

I was also able to catch up in the afternoon with Ahmad, who left the BSP in 2024 to begin a Foundation Year in Business and Entrepreneurship.

Ahmad explained how he had benefitted from the focus on practical elements to his learning: he and his team are currently working on setting up their own company.

With modules covered in the Foundation Year including in the first semester: writing for success, politics, critical thinking and creating your own startup; and in the second semester making use of data, Excel, Culture and Industries, Communication, Creativity and Entrepreneurship and setting up a Trade Fair, Ahmad said that he had learnt a great deal and felt that he was already feeling more prepared for the world of business. Ahmad highlighted the fact that Regent’s offered the opportunity to make contacts with entrepreneurs from the business world, who regularly come to give talks to the students.

Chatting with the Admissions Team at Queen Mary’s University at their Mile End Campus proved equally interesting as, once again, not only was the undergraduate accommodation conveniently located in the middle of the campus, but building was underway to house the new School of Business Management.

Whilst known best for Law, Medicine (in the UK top 10 for Medicine), Dentistry and Science Engineering, Queen Mary’s boasts a 93% employment rate for graduates within 15 months of completing their degree. Interestingly, this London-based Russell Group university also boasts the largest postgraduate Department in Europe.
