It has been another fantastic Fairtrade Fortnight at the BSP. The students have gone above and beyond to promote this year’s goal of being ‘the change’ by fighting against global poverty and inequality.

In Geography lessons, students have been involved in workshops learning about the advantages of slow food v fast food. They designed some great snails explaining slow food and its advantages.

There was a Great BSP Fairtrade Bake-Off in Assembly with six candidates (two from each house) vying to win the title of this year’s Fairtrade Star Baker. We were very luck to be joined by two star judges – ‘Paul Hollywood’ and ‘Prue Leith’!

In the end it was a Year 9 student in Porthos who was awarded the title of the BSP Fairtrade Star Baker 2025 and 20 house points with his magnificent Brazilian carrot cake, which was beautifully presented.

In second place with her delicious tiramisu brownies was a Year 11 student in Artemis with 15 points, and in third place were the delicious chocolate brownies baked by a Year 9 pupil in d’Artagnan), winning 10 house points.

Well done to all our bakers who did a wonderful job.

D’Artagnan won the Fairtrade House Quiz designed by one of our Year 9 students, followed closely by Porthos and then Aramis.

At break times, students have been able to purchase yummy Fairtrade treats with all profits going to Fairtrade.

The House Fairtrade Chocolate Eating Contest was won by Porthos, followed by d’Artagnan and then Aramis. Mrs Magee said it was her favourite house challenge ever.

Today, students were able to wear blue, green and black nail varnish, ties, hair bands and socks to show their support for Fairtrade. We also ran a ‘Choose the World You Want’ Competition.

Many thanks to all the students and staff who participated with such dedication and enthusiasm in this year’s Fairtrade Fortnight.
