On Thursday February 27th, current and former members of our Chess Club were invited to participate in the 2025 IAPS Online Chess Competition. The tournament involved a total of 317 students representing 26 different international schools.
Our 12-member team of Year 6 and Year 7 students had to put their skills to the test in an intense series of five-minute battles, which lasted an hour.
They represented the BSP extremely well and should be very proud of themselves.
The final results will be announced soon.
Here is some feedback from the pupils involved:
“Our teacher was Ms Keefe and she taught us a lot about chess so we got to have a tournament against other schools. Our prize at the start was we had a practice round and she brought snacks for us. When the tournament started we all got ready on our iPads and computers. The Senior School kids joined in and they helped us do well in the competition. We had a lot of fun.”
“I was proud to be one of the only girls there and to show that females can also play chess.”
“It was extremely hard but we did well and had fun and everyone tried their best.”
