“Christmas… is not an external event at all, but a piece of one’s home that one carries in one’s heart.” – Freya Stark
What a joyful and enjoyable way to end a term. Thanks to all who contributed to concerts, International Day, our magnificent Christmas Lunches, and the Christmas Fair. It has been a suitable end to a productive period of time in school. Casting our minds back to the start of term when we were basking in late summer sun and it seems like no time at all that we feel the chill of winter upon us. Along the way our pupils had learned effectively making excellent progress, played sport, performed on stage, supported school councils, developed new friendships and built character. They deserve a rest and the holiday will be a welcome break for many. This newsletter is a visual feast of all that has been enjoyed over the past week – I will certainly be replaying the wonderful seasonal music from our concerts as the holiday approaches.
For many this is a time to travel to see family and friends, I hope that travel plans progress smoothly, and that enjoyable times abound. For our Year 11s and 13s their holiday will be balanced with revision for their exams in January, I feel sure they will find the right mix of academic work and Christmas fun.
As is the case at the end of every Autumn term we bid farewell to members of our global community who are taking their next step to a new school – we wish them well and hope they remember that they remain part of the BSP community wherever they go in the future.
I hope that you have a wonderful holiday, that you enjoy time with family and friends, and travel safely. We are looking forward to starting 2025, with all of the excitement and opportunity that a New Year brings.
