The cross country team travelled to Athens to participate in the ISAA championships, hosted by The American School Athens.

Seven determined athletes participated in the challenging two-day event, where the hot, dry conditions tested their endurance. Despite the extreme weather, all the students showed great resilience and performed admirably. Zara stood out as the BSP’s best-placed athlete in the individual event, securing an impressive position in the 5km run amid the tough competition.

The junior athletes also delivered strong performances in the 3km event, pushing through the heat and undulating course with grit and determination. The following day the students had a great opportunity to participate in the team relays which proved to be a fun and exciting way to end the championships. The BSP boys finished in a commendable 4th position in the exhibitioners’ event, with the fastest 1km legs run by Namish (Year 9) and Mauro (Year 10).

It was a memorable competition where our students displayed athleticism and perseverance in the beautiful Athens sunshine.

The team also had a fabulous opportunity to visit the historical sites, including the Panathenaic Stadium and the Olympic Torch Museum. A walk through the charming streets of Plaka, leading to a view of the Acropolis, was the perfect way to wrap up the trip. Well done to all athletes!
