Before half term, Year 3 celebrated the close of their ‘Ancient Egypt’ topic with an exciting journey back in time, spending a whole day further exploring this fascinating civilisation. We crawled through the tomb of King Tutankhamun by torchlight and felt like real explorers. Afterwards, we catalogued our finds as archaeologists would. We also prepared and mummified a ‘body’ (adding amulets to protect its journey to the afterlife), which some of the children said was “quite tricky” – especially wrapping the bandages – but they enjoyed learning all the different steps. Other activities included designing a death mask, discovering the Ancient Egyptians’ fascination with the scarab beetle, crafting amulets and singing Egyptian songs in French and English. Finally, thanks to the fabulous Year 3 parents, we enjoyed a scrumptious Egyptian feast!

Our sincere thanks go to all the staff and parents involved.
