Year 1 children had a lot of fun in the EYFS refectory this morning when they made squishy ‘Balloon Monsters’. We have been using the story of ‘The Colour Monster’ to talk about our emotions and feelings so we decided to make our own monsters.
We were joined by family members who really enjoyed helping the children to scoop flour into a bottle by using a funnel, blowing up a balloon and carefully putting it onto the bottle before tipping the bottle upside down and shaking gently to make the flour go inside the balloon.
The children could choose from a variety of resources to decorate their balloons and many interesting expressions were drawn to show the different feelings and emotions.
Thank you to all of the family members who were able to join us today. It was a wonderful session and we are pleased that you took the squishy, floury balloon monsters with you as we know they will get home safely!
