For their local place study the Year 12 A Level Geographers visited La Défense on Friday 4th October to investigate to what extent the regeneration of this major business district has been successful.

They visited several sites around La Défense looking at different types of regeneration including retail led, transport led, business led, art and culture led and environment led regeneration.

They also had the amazing opportunity to visit Total Energies, a prominent transnational corporation in La Défense to learn about the opportunities provided to employees and the development of the state-of-the-art ‘The Link’ building where Total Energies will move to soon.

An interesting overview of upcoming regeneration projects was provided by the Paris La Défense Information Centre. At each site visited the students carried out a variety of surveys from transport and environmental quality surveys to noise pollution and land surveys to evaluate the success of regeneration.

They are now in the process of analysing and writing up their key findings.
