On Wednesday, Ms Keefe’s Year 6 Debating Club took part in the annual IAPS Debating Competition and came out on top! Hosted online by King’s College in Madrid, sixteen junior schools around Europe were invited to debate the topic: ‘Do Disney films provide bad role models for children?’ The BSP team argued successfully against this, beating King’s College La Moraleja to make it to the finals.
The final round saw us facing the British Junior Academy of Brussels, answering the question: ‘Should parents be responsible for crimes committed by their children?’ The BSP team had to be quick on their feet, as teams were not allowed to know which side of the debate they were on until one minute before the debate started. However, they were well prepared, kept their poise and are now the champions. Congratulations to them!
