Year 5 Trip to Château de Fontainebleau

Year 5 children enjoyed a lovely sunny day at the Château de Fontainebleau as part of their history topic on François I. They learned how François turned his hunting lodge into a Renaissance Palace after learning about new developments in Art when he visited Italy. The children enjoyed making connections with their knowledge of Greek and Roman mythology and discovering how the French kings used these stories to symbolise their power and strength. They also toured the gardens looking for the animals which were used as symbols in the castle’s architecture.
