State Visit of King Charles III and Queen Camilla

Last Wednesday, King Charles III and President Macron commemorated the sacrifice of allied military personnel in defence of liberty at the Place Charles de Gaulle.

Students from the BSP had the privilege of attending this Ravivage ceremony at the Arc de Triomphe as representatives of our school. During the ceremony, we saw many famous French politicians, the British Ambassador, Their Majesties, President Macron, Mme Macron and many others. The occasion was particularly important as an opportunity to strengthen diplomatic ties as well as being symbolic of our unity, highlighting the modern peaceful relationship between France and the United Kingdom. Knowing we were within arm’s reach of the King of the United Kingdom made the experience surreal. His Majesty’s regal presence and grace left an indelible impression, and the grandeur of the surroundings added to the sense of occasion. We all cheered enthusiastically, waving our British flags, as the President and His Majesty walked past where we stood. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
