Fête de la Musique

On June 21st, the BSP joined the rest of France to celebrate the annual “Fête de la Musique”. Over 40 BSP acts took part, with 90+ performers, spread across three stages playing all afternoon. There were group performances from the orchestra, a woodwind quintet, a flute ensemble, the school choir and a community choir, a pupil band – “Hot Ice” as well as a staff band.

Curriculum Music was represented by performances from all three Year 7 classes playing their own arrangements of Pop Song, Western Theme and Show Stopper; and by pupil groups from 9T and 9H performing their own arrangements of “As It Was” and “Try Everything”. Smaller ensemble acts included duets and trios involving saxophones, flutes, clarinets, singing and percussion instruments. Solo performances on the piano, accompanied pieces on solo instruments and voice completed our line-up. This last category drew heavily on the work of our visiting team of peripatetic music teachers.

The Year 10 Business Studies class ran several food stalls as part of their GCSE course providing much-needed refreshment on a very hot day!
