Year 2 trip to Thoiry

With blue sky, the sun shining brightly and a lot of excitement, Year 2 children set off to Thoiry Zoo yesterday morning and what a fabulous day we all had!

We saw so many amazing animals, from the meerkats whose sentry we noticed was always on guard watching for predators, to very tricky to spot leaf insects and the most beautiful of chameleons!

The hyenas looked particularly hungry as we passed their enclosure and we hurried off to eat our own lunch before they got other ideas!
We passed under a sleeping lion (!) and were impressed by its enormous paws and we had fun spotting the big cats with their amazing patterned coats camouflaging them so well in the scrub.

The children checked the group each animal belonged to as we have been learning all about them and we learned more about what they liked to eat – we discovered what a frugivore was – ask your animal experts in Year 2 if you don’t know!

The children were beautifully behaved and really enjoyed seeing so many wonderful animals up close – thank you Year 2!
