Sir Michael Morpurgo

We were truly honoured and delighted to be able to welcome Sir Michael Morpurgo to our school on Tuesday 23rd May 2023.  Sir Michael Morpurgo, as many of you will know, is an English author, poet and playwright who is perhaps best-known for creating some of the most celebrated children’s stories that have been published in the past 50 years. After a tour of the school and lunch with our ‘reading influencers’, Michael talked to all the children as well as the Year 7 pupils. We were deeply moved by his stories and inspired by his whole love of life and literature. He came across as such a kind and generous person who really knew how to hold a wide audience while relaying a genuine concern for our planet.

At the evening event, Sir Michael delighted the assembled audience once more with his story telling, poetry reading and a fun question and answer session. This time we welcomed guests from the wider community, including other local schools such as the Lycée International and Ermitage.

It was a true privilege to hear him speak – what a magical and special day and an experience we will never forget!
