Year 5 Residential Trip
Year 5 enjoyed a wonderful 3-day adventure last week on their residential trip to discover the volcanoes of Auvergne. After an early start and a long bus journey, the first activity was orienteering in the local park. We returned to l’Ile aux Enfants, where the children were very excited to discover their rooms and get settled in.
Day 2 for many children was the highlight of the trip, as we hiked up the Puy de Vichatel with our guides, Jean-Christophe and Jean-Luc and learned about how the volcanoes were formed. In the afternoon, we took the train up to the top of the Puy de Dome and had a tour of the summit before hiking down the steep trail back to the bus.
Our final activity, on Day 3, was a trip to Vulcania theme park, where we flew over the whole region like eagles and experienced what it would be like to be present when the volcanoes were being formed on different simulator rides.
