Roman Invasions in Year 3

Year 3 children have been learning about the Roman Invasions of Britain.

Flo, Hasianna, Abdul Samad and Evan took on the roles of Emperor Claudius, Boudicca (leader of the Iceni tribe) and a Celt warrior. The Year 3 children asked thoughtful questions, such as ‘Why did you invade Britain?’ and ‘How did you feel when your daughters were captured?’

The children tried on a replica Roman helmet and a chain mail head coif and held a Roman and Celt shield. They realised how heavy the armour was that the soldiers had to battle and march in. Mrs Gagnon (Sqn Ldr ret’d) taught the children how to march and fall out!

The Year 3 classes had recently been invaded by the Year 6 children and could empathise with Boudicca and the Iceni tribe when they were invaded by the Romans!
