DofE Bronze Expedition to Jambville

This year’s twenty-two Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Bronze participants have been busy planning their two day Adventurous Journey practice expedition during these first five weeks of school. They have been working on aims, creating route cards to cover approximately 16km each day, learning additional journeying skills such as: navigational techniques, outdoor cooking with a Trangia, tent set up, and efficient kit packing. All this planning culminated in four teams finally heading out on their expedition from Jambville last weekend, camping at night and journeying during the day.

Each team navigated their way through the forests and fields, thankfully in some beautiful weather, accompanied by a supervisor on the first day, and then left on their own for the second.

To finalise this stage of the award they must now reflect on their journey and produce posters that indicate what worked well and what could be done better next time. Once complete they will begin planning their assessed expedition, which will take place in the spring.

We congratulate them all on completing this first journey.
