Bond dealer visits Economics class
When you mention government bond yields to most seventeen-year-olds you expect a certain reaction to what is a relatively minor and (what can seem to them) rather abstract part of the Economic A Level syllabus.
Therefore, we were delighted that Keith Ney of Carmignac Risk Managers was able to come in and really bring the subject to life; making links with a whole range of topics such as interest rates, national debt, QE and a brief economic history 1945-present. This prompted enthusiastic questioning from our pupils and no doubt, a few career revisals from some of them.
