Year 4 Team Building in St Germain Forest
Year 4 children went into the forest in St-Germain-en-Laye for their team building trip. Mr Murphy, who helps run the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, joined us for the morning. At the start of the activity Mr Murphy gave a motivational talk to the children to remind them that ‘there is no I in the word team’. It was a fantastic morning in the forest as all the children worked together so well to build excellent shelters.
Here is what some of the children thought:
Tapsee Arun: ‘It was great to learn how to build shelters in case we ever get into a situation. We learned how to keep everyone safe’.
Bhuvi: ‘We learned how to build a shelter, tie knots and work in a team. It was amazing!’
Zaid: ‘The best part of the trip was when we started building and collecting wood. But I also loved destroying it too. We had to take it down before we left, to leave the forest as we found it.’
Lucy: ‘I thought it was really fun to make our own dens. Mr Murphy then soaked us with water when testing if it was waterproof. I loved being in a team, working together and looking for wood.’
Lara: ‘I liked the trip because we were able to build dens and we worked really well as a team. We decided what to do and we all agreed on everything. The best part was collecting the wood.’
We all had a brilliant morning learning in the outdoors and we were extremely impressed with the attitude of the children and the learning that took place.
