GCSE Results 2022 – Delight
Our GCSE students have had the customary long summer wait for their results. There can be little doubt that they were worth waiting for and huge congratulations are due to them on overcoming a two year period that has not been without its challenges!
We are delighted to be able to report that this year our students achieved a magnificent 55% of grades at 7,8 or 9 (the old A*-A grades) and the grade 9-5 pass rate is a similarly impressive 86%. There were some excellent individual performances with Sonia Teng gaining a clean sweep of grade 9s. Congratulations also to the following students who performed with distinction – grades 7-9 in at least 8 subjects: Aryan Arora, Edward Butterworth, Annika Fertaki, Raphael Le Brusq, Maximilian Newman Loussouarn, Lonan Ortiz and Alikhan Zhaksybay.
Now the challenge of A level lies ahead, and we are pleased to be able to work with so many of the cohort to achieve their university ambitions wherever in the world they are considering.
Head of Senior School Ms. Alice Brooking said:
“We welcomed Year 11 pupils into school early this morning to receive their GCSE results – the first proper set of exam results since the Covid pandemic started – and they were understandably nervous after a challenging couple of years.
Envelopes were opened with trepidation but smiles appeared soon after!
Many congratulations to all our GCSE candidates. We look forward to seeing them next Friday (2nd September) for the Year 12 induction afternoon at the BSP.”
Headmaster Nicholas Hammond said:
“Our Year 11 pupils have every right to feel very proud of their accomplishments on this, their GCSE results day. As a year group they have faced disrupted schooling and for many this was a first experience of public exams. That they have performed with such distinction is to their very great credit. We are as proud of those who gained a clutch of grade 9s as we are of those who gained a grade 5 in subjects they found challenging. Our thanks also to the unflagging efforts of their teachers who have supported their learning despite the vicissitudes of the last two years. Well done!”
