Year 12 A Level Geography Trip to Étretat
Finally, after a long period without Geography trips due to Covid, the Year 12 Geographers were able to explore the beautiful coastal environment around Étretat. One of the aims of the day was for them to review key coastal landscapes and the processes that helped shape them. They were also able to evaluate the coastal management strategies in place to help protect Étretat from flooding. The students had a chance to use a variety of fieldwork techniques including measuring longshore drift, beach profiles, cliff height and the impact of erosion on beach material. They then looked at human impacts on Étretat by carrying out a variety of surveys. This fieldwork has also helped to start prepare the students for their NEA Independent Investigations, which they will carry out in Year 13.
