Year 3 Rounders

During this Spring term, Year 3 have been working very hard on their throwing, catching, bowling, batting and fielding skills in Monday’s after school rounders club.

“I really enjoyed playing rounders this term!” said Basiel.

Mrs Gagnon has been so impressed with their progress, teamwork and gameplay that she gave the children the chance to challenge the Junior School teachers to an end-of-term match; as Kaitlyn proclaimed, “Rounders is the best fun ever!”

The teachers arrived in high spirits but jaws soon dropped when they saw the skills of their Year 3 opponents: the Year 3s were first to bat and scored an impressive 5½ rounders with some incredible strikes of the ball combined with formidable teamwork around the running pitch. With steely determination, the Junior School teachers stepped up to bat.

“It was fun and the teachers tried very hard,” Matteo reflected. “Mrs Zivanovic even managed to bat the ball out of the big green pitch!”

Eugene added, “I like to field and I got somebody out.”
And Liza sportingly offered, “The teachers played well but unfortunately the children won.”

“Their catching skills just were not good enough,” concluded Lara.

It was indeed a closely fought match with the teachers only gaining 4 ½ rounders thanks to tight fielding and some mighty fine catches.

Well done to the Year 3 rounders club; it has been a super term!
