Year 4 Trip to Versailles

On Tuesday, 4T children were able to enjoy the wonderful weather in the beautiful gardens of the Château de Versailles, which we visited to further our understanding of the  Paris area and  the importance of Louis XIV.

After our early picnic, we had a guided tour through the apartments of the king and queen, as well as the opportunity to visit both the chapel and the famous “Hall of Mirrors”.

It was a fantastic experience for the children to develop their knowledge. Both our guide and Mrs De Lisle were very impressed with the children’s use of learned facts to ask intelligent, insightful questions, of which they had a great many! From spotting Roman emperors to relating stories of Greek gods, the children used their prior learning to interpret and understand what they saw and it was a pleasure to see their enthusiasm.
